# Keyboard shortcuts and gestures

On a computer browser or a tablet with a keyboard, every gesture of the web app has a keyboard shortcut. Press `?` for the list; it is also in Settings → Keyboard shortcuts. The magnifier at its top right (or `/`, `⌘+K` / `Ctrl+K`) searches it by action, key or gesture, in Chinese or English.

Function keys use `Alt+Shift+letter` and work while a text field is focused. Single-letter keys work while the focus is not in the message box (press `Esc` to leave it). `Alt` is `⌥` on a Mac; where it says `⌘+K` / `Ctrl+K`, press `⌘` on a Mac and `Ctrl` on Windows and Linux. With a dialog open, `Esc` closes the dialog first.

The "This reply" group acts on the page you are reading; "Files on this page" acts on its first file (or on the file card you selected with Tab).

Function keys also work while a text field is focused. System or input-method shortcuts may intercept them; on ChromeOS Alt+Shift+M opens Files, so restore defaults from the model menu.
